I have a 2002 Suzuki Savage. It came with a 17" Windshield
already
attached. I get lots of wind noise in my helmet so I bought (but
have
not installed yet) a 22" Show Chrome windshield.
The directions that came with it are not very good and I have
never
put one on before so I have searched for a step-by-step tutorial
on the net. Haven not found one yet. In my searching I did read
about a LIP that can be put on an existing windshield that is
supposed
to cut down on the noise even better than a bigger windshield..
2 Questions:
A. Does anyone know where I can get detailed instructions on
how to install a windshield without messing it up?
B. Would I be better off to save this bigger windshield for a
future
bike and get a LIP?
Thank you so much for your help.

Whatever you do, make sure you are looking over the top of the shield
while riding.
Do you wear earplugs? If not, get some. Seriously.

I have a pair of earplugs but haven't thought to wear them. I can
try
that probably tomorrow because we are having sunny/50's on Wed.
Serious question - why look over the windshield?

If you don't wear them, after a few years you will be saying "Huh?" when
people talk to you. Back in the early 70s, when I started long distance
riding, nobody ever mentioned earplugs. I'm now paying for it with
greatly reduced hearing, and tinnitus. Do you want a constant ringing in
your ears? All the time?

Think about riding in the rain. You get rain drops on both sides of your
face shield, your glasses if you wear them, and the windshield. That's
six sets of drops to look through. If your helmet and face shield are
above the windshield, the wind will carry away the drops on the outside
of the face shield, leaving only the inside of it, and maybe your
glasses.

NO, I don't. Tinnitus actually uns in my family naturally. My dad
has been living with it for years

Ok, I understand. Now, the thing is I have a scooter with no
windshield
and the motorcycle with the 17". If there is a chance of rain I
will always
ride the scooter. Yea, I'm biased. LOL I consider the scooter to
be my
utility vehicle. I've strapped a milk crate to it so it looks
very Fred Sanford
but I can carry quite a bit more stuff on it than I can on the
bike. So, if I
go shopping I take the scooter.
Is there really a bubble? If there is - does a bigger windshield
mean a
bigger bubble?
