I have an '89 Yamaha Venture Royal with ~40K miles.  I haven't driven it
much.  Lately I have been having a problem with the warning lights on the
dash that indicates my headlamp is out.  Only problem is that the headlamp
works OK.  Occasionally I will be driving along and the indicator will go
off for a while.  This makes me thing I have a loose wire or connection
somewhere.  I have disassembled the upper fairing and removed the dash and
headlight looking for the loose connection or wire.  I have traced wires as
per the schematic but cannot find the computer.  I did find a box behind the
headlamp that has a circuit board, but the wire colors as per schematic do
not match.  I have cleaned all connections with contact cleaner and moved
every wire bundle I can find looking for a broken wire but no luck. Has
anyone heard of this problem before or have any suggestions?

If all else fails, put a piece of tape over it....I thik you'd know if
the headlight went out without an idiot light to tell you.

The red LED indicator light in the dash flashes whenever there is a problem
with any one of 6 items monitored by the computer. Side stand down, low
brake fluid in front master cylinder, low oil, low battery fluid level, head
light and tail light are all monitored. It also flashes whenever fuel is
low. You can kinda see why I would like to resolve this problem. I have
currently covered the light with electrical tape, but this is only a quick
fix. I thought someone else might have had this problem before and could
supply an answer.
