Well it's springtime in the midwest. Flowers are blooming, the temp is
past 60, and it's time once again for the blarin' o' the pipes, the
harley owner's announcement to whomever s/he happens to ride by, that
s/he's baaaack. In times past, I had my LPSL patch and created quite the
racket myself, so 'been there, done that', but realized that this ain't
healthy for anyone's ears, including my buddys who always chose to ride
outboard of my exhaust system for some reason. It's painfully obvious
that the cops are in on the fun and won't enforce the law in Illinois
(625 ILCP 5/12-602) (http://www.ilga.gov/legislation/ilcs/ ), so what's a
parent to do when the baby keeps waking up because Bubba's rapping his
way back to the barn?

Once I was loud, but now I'm found.

Not much you can do, and you have my sympathy as one who works nights. BTW
Loud Pipes do not Save Lives, they just annoy people. I am all for
aftermarket units that add a little throat to your sound, maybe a few dB
higher, but straight pipes? Come on...

Ain't that the TRUTH!!!
Personally I have never been one for the obnoxiously LOUD pipes. I d oagree,
aftermarket personalization is a good thing, a little xtra performance at
teh cost of a couple of dB is not too bad but straight-pipes are just NOT
cool!
I live in Nova Scotia, Canada and ther are whispers that the the RCMP and
local Police are going to be cracking-down on this sort of thing soon... NOT
soon enough for me :)
I work downtown in a city. Walking down the street one afternoon, a V-Twin
(Harley or knockoff) roared by and the idiot riding it (not all of them are
idiots) NEEDED to announce his prescence bu gunning the throttle. My ears
honestly hurt from the NOISE as it echoed between the buildings. He got my
"respect" alright... lucky thing there wasn't a rock or some other object I
could throw nearby :):)
