I've worked in the Aircraft industry for well over 25 years and
as,"Aircraft Re-finsher"(and trust me I don't bull myself up) 99% of
my working life as been in metal preparation and anti-corrosion
treatment and 1% spraying and painting(that's the easy bit).
It was now over 18 months ago that I was put onto ACF50 by a guy in my
City(Hull East Yorkshire).I was a bit miffed that I'd not heard of it
in my job but as soon as I started researching it and then found it
was made by,"Lear USA" my interest was boosted.
As chance would happen not long after I started a job on some military
Helos(Links/Chinooks) and just chatting at the tea table.Lo and behold
they had been using the new ACF50 as an anti-corrosion treatment
against sea-spray.Well methinks I'll get some of that because if you
know anything about sea-spray corrosion in combat situations then you
will know just what a wreck it can make in a very short time of any
aircraft and not just the paint/anti-corrosion and primer but the
electrics as well especially when they are flying low sortie or rescue
in the case of Helos.
Now here's the thing. It renovates old or new wiring against electrical
breakdown/damp.
It stops alloy and or ferrous corrosion.
It stops chrome tarnishing.
It slows down synthetic rubber including o-rings from decaying(Not
your effing tyres<grin>).
It is,unfortunately, too good at it's job in certain circumstances(but
ok once you suss) e.g
I stripped one of me spare starter motors.Degeased it all, cleaned the
commutator etc and liberally ACF50'd it.Re-painted it and it looked
good.Then tested it on a battery.Bloody thing gave a half-harted spin
and then stopped.Thought bugger.Coils are shagged.But then
thought,hang on.I coated the lot didn't I?Well of course it wouldn't
bloody run.I'd put ACF50 on the brushes as well.Doh!!!It wouldn't let
the current through to the commutator.Quick bit of,"Servisol",

Switch Cleaner
to clear the ACF50 off the brushes and commutator and that 25 year old
starter is in this bike and like new,

There are more stories I could tell about this stuff that are not
astounding but it's just,"Ronseal" for bikes/cars whatever,"It Does
What it says on the tin" :D
PS
And more :P
PPS
Old Stator down to 13.6v on idle. Now in above bike at 14.2v.Thanks
again ACF50 :D

Yeah I know:-). I blathered my VN 750 with it, paying special attention to
the final drive assy (it's a shaftie). I'd polished it a couple of years
ago, but after a few onths of neglect (parked up) it was beginning to show
signs, but not any more. Good stuff for sure.

I know that too. My son has a body shop and I'm a "regular" there doing this
and that. Mostly that, and "that" being putting the paint on.

I heard about it a few years ago, but never gave it a second thought. Then
someone mentioned it again and I thought "Why not"? So I did:-)

Even parking near the coast is enough to fuck bikes up.

I had a hell of a job finding anywhere that sells it over here. I eventually
did, but I had to get it on-line.
