I am working on my GL1000...new clutch, hyd. clutch conversion, new
timing belts, carb work...and I was wondering what is everyone's opinion on
the best coolant to use when I get Her back together?

Coolant is pretty much coolant except for one detail. Automotive brands
often contain fine silicates: sand. It's intended to scrub away any crud
that builds up, but according to legend it also tends to scrub away at
water pump seals. So the safest thing is to buy coolant from your Honda
dealer.

That's not a coolant, it's a coolant additive that modifies the surface tension
and other properties of water/ethylene glycol mix it has better thermal transfer
properties. If the motorcycle is running within normal temperature range,
there's no point in spending the money.

Honda automobile dealers sell Silicate free, premixed anti-freeze
by the gallon for a reasonable price compared to what the small
containers cost from a motorcycle dealer.
