I adjusted the valves on my Suzuki Marauder 250 (the gaps were wider
than norm so I tightened them up) and the bike seems to be louder than
before. Not the metallic sound though, but a deeper sound of the engine
overall. Should I be concerned or is there a reasonable explanation for
that?
Thanks.

A reasonable explanation would be that the valves are opening a bit
more, and the result is that the engine is simply running better....

Or the valve noise was so bad it masked a shagged bottom end and now it
doesn't :-)

another could be that he adjusted them when they were not at the
lowest point on the cam.

I don't know about the cam because I couldn't see it, but I adjusted
the valves in the TDC of the compression stroke, just like the book
says.
