I have a 69 CL350K1 that I've gotten put together and running, but I'm
having a bit of a problem, possibly with the carbs. I cleaned them out
so that all the jets and passages are spotless, put it back together,
and it started right up. After a bit of adjustment, it idles great,
though there is a bit of a cough at times.
My problem now is that if I don't raise the rpms above an idle very
slowly, it will die, and the engine bogs down at around 6000 rpms in
neutral or 5000 rpms while in gear. The bike has the same Keihin CV
carbs as the CB350. I'm assuming that this is still a carb problem, but
this is the first engine of any kind that I've taken from a non-running
state to running, so I still have a lot to learn.
Thanks.

Check the rubber diaphrams, and all gaskets. Make sure the mixture
screw is adjusted correctly, possibly try the idle mixture screw. (turn
it so it is slightly richer)
Make sure you have the slide (mid range mixture) set correctly.
Put in a new set of plugs. You'd be surprised what a difference they
will make.
Keep us updated.

Thanks for replying. I do have new plugs. The spark is kind of weak,
and that's something that I'd like to figure out. I'll be installing
new plug heads, and wires if I can. I did mess with the idle mixture
screw a bit more today, and I'm getting good throttle response coming
out of idle now. I noticed today that my midrange to high end is a lot
better with half choke, which seems like it's a problem with lack of
fuel, but the Keihin CV carbs of this vintage only have idle mixture
adjustment.

Yes, I posted in another group too, and I've been getting good helpful
responses to both posts.
