Right - and again, if he thinks that describes the SV...or
the 599...or the KLR....or the Nighthawk...or really any
of the bikes I listed, then he needs to actually try RIDING
one of them.

It's become a generic term much like zerox. Also, the SV (s) model has low
bars. The SV (naked) does not.
That is all for now. :-)

None of the bikes Bob listed are crotch rockets.
I'd go with the SV650 or the Nighthawk 750. Or even an older Kawasaki
EX500.
BTW, 47 is young.

There is also the Honda Shadow Aero. I had one as a rental beast in
Orlando. It will go from 0-60 in comfortably under 30 seconds.
If one ends up coming your way for less than $2,000 or so ... it will take
saddlebags and it will make highway speeds.

I wasn't sure how the "Aero" made the thing different from a straight
Shadow, so I Googled up some images - and I'm still not really sure
I see it. Still looks like a little cruiser to me - seat too low, feet too
far forward, styling out of the '50s. And....good GAWD...520 pounds
(dry) being pushed around by a 745cc twin? Not my cuppa tea, thanks.
