If you want to sit upright try a V-Strom 650. Only catch is that it's a bit
tall in the saddle so most people can't flatfoot it--not a big deal. Take
you anywhere--somebody I know puts 50,000 miles a year on one, there's a
couple that rode one two-up to Ushuia--at 12,000 feed in the Andes it was
still doing fine on Peruvian gas, there are usually a couple of them in the
Iron Butt and they usually finish.

ABS option, too. Adjustable windscreen also. No vibration on
that opposed V-twin, fuel injection, decent alternator to power toys,
all the after-market stuff you could want, sold reliable design, etc.

Actually it could use a bit more in that department--with my Gerbings turned
up all the way the voltage runs down pretty fast at idle--it's OK travelling
but noodling around town in traffic that gets to be a drag.

Jacket and gloves. I can turn them up about half with no trouble, turn them
both up all the way though and I need to keep the revs up when I stop.
Of course it's got to be effing _cold_ before I need to turn them up more
than half way.
