Having ridden many different bikes for 35 yrs I'm quite fascinated by
the comments/advice being given here.
First and foremost ..... buying a bike is like going to a shoe
store. Only buy what FITS you.
Why? Very simple .... it's what CARRIES you through this life. Yes,
you can alter this and that down the road but the initial feel should
FIT.
For a road bike there are 3 main STYLE choices; sportbike, standard,
cruiser. So the question is, what type of riding are you going to
do? Local "coffee shop" runs, around town, weekend trips, cross-
country, Iron Butt rallies etc.
For myself I've been comfortable going from east coast to west on a
Ninja ZX9, a Katana 750, Intruder 1400, and yes I've owned some 25
different makes/models. Presently I own an old-style Katana 750,
Virago 920, and Vulcan 1600 ........ short distance riding is done on
the 1600, local running around on the Virago, long-distance (fully
loaded) on the Katana. And come the new year I'll probably switch
out again.
Hear good things on the SV 650, and very good reports on the Ninja ZZR
600 .... so they could be next.
Oh I forgot to mention (not that it matters) I just turned 65yrs of
age.

I would've thought just about the opposite, e.g.
Local running around on the K750.
Short distance riding on the V920.
Long-distance (fully loaded) on the V1600.
I guess I don't know those bikes very well. In
fact, I can't say that I've ever ridden any of them.
But, this review does say the bike is well suited
for sport-touring comfort. Actually, it must be
quite adequate, because in an obvious error, the
opening statement is repeated. <g>

I know those C(rotch) R(ockets), to which I'd
classify the Katana 750, are fast. But looking
at the HP/TQ numbers, it's looks almost anemic
by todays high output bike standards. Of course,
it's the P(ower) T(o) W(eight) numbers that are
most important.
IMO, bike selection is a lot harder when you
have to limit that choice to just one. <bg>

Agreed. I find that for me the best number is (1) GL1000 (1) T-500 as
soon as I finish the rebuild and custivation (1) Ninjette...belongs to
swmbo and I may have to get my own.
Not a thing I can't do on any of them. Cruise, bomb the mountains,
tour etc. The Titan does quiet well on dirt roads / gravel also, far
better than the wing or Ninjettes.
