Do you ride in hot weather? Black is going to absorb more heat.

Yeah, but what's under it is very similar to a styrofoam beer cooler. In
Motorcyclist Magazine's tests, as I recall, black helmets in full sunshine
were something like 1/4 of a degree different than white helmets on the
inside. I can deal with that.

Many years ago, before I first left school, we were given a talk by a
motorcycle stunt professional. He gave this advice, do not use paint or
stickers to customize any helmet UNLESS you know it can take the
solvents, as said above in an earlier post.
From what I remember the older, cheaper ones not made from fibreglass
became very brittle after these paints, and stickers were used.
Best thing is to check with the manufacturer of your helmet to see what
they suggest.
