Honda Sabre 1100 od VTX 1300

 

Which one do I choose? :? I am a new rider to this sport. I have
ridden Fourwheelers for soem time now and have decided to try me a
Bike!  I am 24 about 6’3" and about 300lbs. I have looked at the
honda sabre 1100 and the vtx 1300. I like the styling of both and
think I would like the ride of either but I am trying to decide if the
extra 200 CC’s is worth the extra 1600 bucks. I can get a great deal
on either one and a color I like in each but I just don’t know about
the power issue. has anyone actually ridden both Bikes and if so do
you think the extra power is worth it ?

 if your a new rider, then you need to take the MSF Class first.  Then I
would not get such a large bike for a first bike. I'd look for something in
the 400 to 750 range to learn on. 1100 to 1300 is a big bike even for some
experienced riders.
There are some great choices in the 400 to 750 range that offer great
learning on.

Nonsense.......a big man like you needs a big bike like the VTX1300,
the learning curve will be identical to starting with a smaller bike.

Bullshit.  I'm 6'2", 280 lbs, and I started on a GS500E


Bullshit.  Smaller bikes are more forgiving in a multitude of ways.

I don't really think the "forgivingness" aspect enters into things when the
difference is a couple of hundred cc's and the rider weighs 300 lbs. The
1300 VTX weighs slightly more than the 1100 too, so the performance (speed)
difference is minimal.
