I have a 81 KZ750. I want to be able to mount forward controls on it,
change
the fenders, install a t-handlebar, change the seat around,
basically just
change the whole look of it. Can anyone tell me where on
the internet I can find
the parts that I am looking for and/or can what
I want to do be done.

Thank you in advance

Before you get deep into trying to make a chopper out of a Universal
Japanese Motorcycle, stop and think. It has a wide 4-cylinder engine.
It has a high seat, and the frame rails under the seat are high, so you
can't get the seat down low where you want it for the chopper look.

If you did put a king and queen seat on a KZ-750, your girlfriend would
be sitting about 3-1/2 feet up in the air, and that's not a low cruiser
look.

If you bought a rear end lowering kit that angled the shocks backwards,
you'd just wind up with a rough ride and your girlfriend would never
want to get onto that rough riding machine again. I know, I tried the
lowering kit solution and it didn't work out...

If you want a feet-forward machine, a Vee-twin would be better, because
it will have a narrower engine. Kawasaki did build some LTD models that
had a slightly stepped seat, but that was about as far as they went
with customizing UJM's...

You'd be better off to look for a Suzuki Intruder, Yamaha Virago, or
Honda Shadow, in that order. My buddy offered to sell me his old Shadow
that had sat outdoors for a long time. He only wanted $100 for it, but
it was too rusty and corroded for me, and besides, it was a Honda...

The Intruder, Virago, and Shadow are all cruisers. Suzuki built some
nice looking 700cc, 800cc and 1400cc Intruders. If I was you, I would
sell the KZ750 and use the money to buy something closer to where I
planned to go with the cruiser look...

One of these days, I plan to build an Intruder with a very low seat,
and maybe stretch it out about 18 inches to make the ride very
comfortable for
really long cruises, like 500 to 1000 miles in a day...

OTOH, if you're really broke and you're just stuck with that KZ-750 for
the next few years, you can look at the online catalogs, like
www.denniskirk.com and you can google up the J.C. Whitney motorcycle
catalog and look at some of the mild customization stuff they have. But
I don't think you'll wind up with the cruiser look that you want, so,
if you can get ahold of an Intruder cheap, that's what I recommend...

Thaks for your input. That is really good info to know. My wife has told
me
that I cannot buy a bike for a least a couple of years but this bike
was given
to me and she said nothing about me spending money on a bike
I already have. I
just wish I cold get it to look different.

Thanks again

Man just ride the thing for now and be happy somebody gave you a bike.
You can slowly "customize" it as you go and may end up with a truly
unique bike that is different from the rest. Better to practice your
skills on a free bike, that way if it ends up being ugly, big deal.
Just don't be tempted to throw money at it in hopes of building a
custom.

Have fun, be safe and PAY ATTENTION to EVERYTHING.
