I purchased a Lifan 70 as a replacement for my 1970 Honda Trail 70 motor.
It's a very close match, but the wiring doesn't hook up and the motor is
too tall to fit the bike frame with the existing intake manifold. Any
suggestions for my dilemma?

Not to be a smart ass, but I'd return the engine and use half the
money to repair/rebuild the one you have. If you don't have the Honda
engine, check e-bay or one of many places that sell used bikes/parts
like Walneck's Cycle Trader.

I can't return the engine because it came with no paperwork or receipt and
if I can't get the dealer to send me paperwork/wiring diagram, then I sure
as heck won't be able to get him to return my money upon return of the
engine. Thanks anyway!

Some dealer! Well then, try to e-bay the engine, or sell it to
someone else for a go-kart ect. Do you have the original Honda engine?
Have you tried to do a "google" search to find info on that thing?
There may be some help out there yet, don't give up!

Thanks for you suggestions, Joe. I do have the original motor, and planned
to rebuild it over the winter, but the rebuild kit was the same price as
this brand new motor, so I thought I was going to take the easy way out.
Ha! I've since "heard" that Honda supports the Lifan engine. According
to Kolbmotorsports.com, Honda ran out of these engines in the late 1990's
and sold their molds to Lifan. I've not tried the local dealer yet
because of the anticipated cost, but there's my back-up plan.
