For those of you that might be looking forward to motorcycle camping,
there's a web site that has a pretty good list of motorcycle friendly
campgrounds and resorts. It's located at http://www.bikercamps.com It
looks like there are a lot more motorcycle campgrounds in the
Southeastern U. S. than anywhere else, but there's also a pretty long
list of campgrounds around Sturgis, S. D. for those that may be riding
to Strugis this year.

I think there is a great place our Vulcan riding group frequents often...

No, I'm not associated with them in any way except that I've heard a few
hundred people say great things about the place...

Yup the Kickstand Lodge is on the bikercamps.com website. A couple of weeks
ago, I was up that way, riding with a bunch of friends. Most of us stayed at
the Ironhorse Motorcycle Lodge. Very nice place.

Thanks to the original poster for the cite of the website
www.bikercamps.com. Too bad most are indeed in the Southeastern US, but
maybe in time more such camps will be added, perhaps even
internationally.
The website mentioned the security-related issue of staying at a
motel and leaving your bike parked outside. This issue has occurred to
me, and I've considered that if I was on a mc tour and stayed at a
motel I'd try to chain my bike to a post close to my room at minimum.
How do other motocyclists here deal with this matter (aside from
installing the best alarm system possible)?

I've heard from several folks that attend Rolling Thunder in DC every year,
that a lot of the ground floor only type motels have a huge problem with
guys putting their bikes IN THE ROOM... lol.
And since most of them are Harley's, of course they leak oil on the carpet.
I'm not kidding - happens every year!!!!
