All geared up for a trip to Canada and going through the paperwork one
last time I notice that my insurance cards are marked "temporary" and
expire in a couple of days. So, no problem I think, go through the big
package from the insurance company that I should have gone through when
it arrived and it turns out that that's a bunch of crap from the agent,
not from the company, and the cards are the same as I already have.
I've been getting bills so presumably I have insurance in force.
So here I sit with no proof of insurance. There's no contact number for
the company, nor do they have a Web site. The agent, of course, is not
in.
So tomorrow I bitch at the agent, but I don't hold out much hope of
getting a timely resolution.
So, does anybody have an insurance company to recommend that does
business in CT that can get the blasted cards out _fast_, or do I just
sit here on my butt for the next month waiting for their paperwork to
clear?
I tried Esurance, for motorcycle they just flash over to Geico.
Ordinarily I wouldn't be worried about it but I'm told that the
Canadians require proof of insurance for entry into the country.

Why not just ask them to fax you a card? If you don't have a fax or
access to one see if they can email you a PDF version.

Yes we do.

The card I have is the one they _did_ fax me. Apparently the agent
can't issue a permanent card, that has to come from the insurance
company and the insurance company provides no contact information
whatsoever on any paperwork that I have.
Should have gone with Geico, but no, I had to save 50 bucks.

Most will provide a temporary card when the rider is put in effect. All
sounds like a combination of you and the insurance company resulting in no
card. I use State Farm, have for years and when I change vehicles, I have a
card so fast I don't give it a thought.

Insurance cards? What are those? We don't need no schtinkin' insurance
cards.
