I have a 1995 Honda Shadow 600 that has been sitting.
It has set about a year, not being started. I went to start it and
the motor started fine, but idled very slow. I could not rev it up any
or the motor would die. The gas in the tank does not have the terrible
smell, but I was told to drain the tank, and refill with fresh gas.
The 2 plugs are solid black.
Please e-mail me with your ideas and suggestions at

Thanks,
Barbara

The old gas needs to be emptied and new put in ,whenever your bike (and
any other gas powered vehicle)is going to be sitting for more than a few
weeks you need to put some sort of fuel stabilizer in it to keep it from
breaking down.
Now for the plugs I wouldn't worry to much about it now til you get the
new gas in it and to help it add some fuel system cleaner(use the
highest quality gas you can find) ,run it a lil while and then take it a
quick run around the block
Another thing you should do too is change your fuel filter and change
your oil out too if you didnt change it before it sat you should always
change it and run it a few minutes and it helps to put an oil additive
in, my preference is lucas oil it does a goood job of sticking to metal
surfaces ,another thing is go out about every couple months and start
your bike and let it run a few minutes to warm up and shut it off again
to remove the moisture build up inside the system and keep the oil
coating the surfaces and it's ready to run when your ready to ride .
Remember riding it too hard and not riding it at all can destroy a good
bike and your fun.
Good luck and good riding
