In today's paper (Boston Globe 9/9/05 p C2) I see a photo of the new 2006
Honda Gold Wing "equipped with an air bag system"!! The photo shows the
bike with a rider (dummy?) and the air bag deployed.

This is what we call 'feature creep'.

Initially I saw this feature and I figured the world of motorcycle safety
had gone off the edge of practicality. But then I found a video of the
tests they did with a GL1500, prototyping the bag and showing what it does
in a high speed collision. It made me go hmmmmm.....
Take a look at http://www.ridersrally.com/brian/goldwing%20bag_1500.mpg .
Its amazing how much that GL1800 moved that car on impact. Great video to
make you think about this airbag thing on a touring bike.
