Have a funny quirk with the rear brakes, hard to troubleshoot the cause. I
know it's an older bike but it has been a good old girl and not given me
much trouble at all. Always starts. Can't say much bad about this 82 CX 500,
it's been a great commuter bike and a Sundee drive in the countryside
bike.Wish they still made them!!
Of recent she has started with a buzz, a mechanical noise and feedback from
the brake peddle. The brake linings are good with about 2000 KM's on them
so I would think the shoes don't need replacing. The brakes work fine to
stop the machine. The problem only occurs when you downshift with the
peddle depressed. Unsettling sound and feeling through the peddle. If I
rhythm the brake peddle with the downshift the sound and feedback does not
happen, however, if I keep constant pressure on the peddle and downshift the
problem occurs when the gearbox is reengaged as the clutch is released to
the engines compression to slow the bike down (gear down). Thanks for any
opinions in advance, muchly appreciated! -- Steve
