Ok, I seemed to have created a monster when I asked about
helmets. Maybe this will be less controversial. Since I bought my old
1971 Honda cb750 I have been looking online for repair manuals. I have
seen Clymer and Haynes. Any thoughts or preferences between these 2 or
other suggestions?

        Thanks,
I think I need to change my nick to something more
appropriate for this group.

Hobbs choice with those. Some Haynes are better than some Clymers nd
vice-versa. It all depends on the bike/car. The Clymers was a good manual
for my VN 750 though, but the pictures were VERY dark and unclear.

You could try here for downloadable manuals too.

Beav! You da man! This is great. I looked for downloadable manuals but
was unable to find them until you gave me this website. I didn't find
a repair manual for a 1971 cb750, but I'll try requesting it. There is
a parts list but I need to figure out if I have a cb750 k1, k2, f1, or
f2. Meanwhile, I found a common service manual that should be a great
help. I am mechanically inclined but I know nothing about motorcycles.
Hopefully my knowledge from working on cars will be of some benefit. I
am new to all this and this newsgroup has been more help than anything
I have found.

Thanks Beav and you other ladies & gentlemen out
there.

Nah, just someone who had a link stored:)

This is great. I looked for downloadable manuals but

The guys on there seem pretty accomodating, so one may turn up sooner or
later.

 There is

That info should be on the VIN plate. or you could check the plate number
with Honda's database (assuming they've got one like Kwak have)

Meanwhile, I found a common service manual that should be a great

No doubt about it. Both are suspended on springs and shock absorbers, both
steer on bearings and both have engines that share a common operating
procedure. Don't think of things n "bike" or "car" terms, just as "things
that need sorting" and you'll be well on your way to getting the jobs done.

 I

Try uk.rec.motorcycles next time (That's a joke btw:-)
