All,
Do you know of a safe way to lower the seat height on a Honda CM 450?
My wife can't flat foot it and she isn't comfortable doing the hop off
to one leg at stops.
TIA.

Ask your local dealer for the name of a local upholsterer specializing in
motorcycle seats. A good one can even change foam densities to fit, but
certainly make the seat much lower. It can usually be done for pennies on
the dollar when compared to costs of after-market seats.

Great idea! I'll take the seat apart and see what she thinks of the
height w/o padding then work up in 1/2 foam to the height she wants.
Then I could take the whole mess to the upholsterer so he can make it
look right instead of like home-made shoes.
Do you think it's safe to modify the frame or base of the seat?
Do you think it's safe to drop the fork tubes 1/2" ?
Thanks Seth!

No I don't. The seat pan is the armor preventing your ass being split on
the backbone of the frame when an unexpected pothole is hit.

I'd ask someone more qualified than myself, but I have to ask; Why?

Free advice is often worth its price.

Safe or not it's impossible with this bike's stock bars. The
adjustment fittings would hit them. Also I may have asked my question
backwards. I meant lower the triple tree on the fork tubes thereby
lowering the frame height on the front a tad. But it's moot anyway.
Thanks again!
