Ok now I went to three motorcycle shops today and looked at helmets.
Boy.... the more I looked the more I got confused about the best helmet for
me.
I want a full face. I looked at the Shoei's, the HJC's, Bell, Arai and some
others I can't remember. The more I looked and asked advice from the
salesman, the more I became confused. Can someone please help me on this ?
I live in Southeastern Virginia so I need something for the cold and something
that has good ventalation for the summer heat without the high price. $200 or
less would be within my buget. But I dont want to sacrafic safety for price.

Oh.... and if there is a good internet source with discount prices would be a
bonus :)

Thanks
Eddie

Do you have an Arai head or a Shoei head? Is your skull shape
dolichocephalic, mesocephalic or brachycephalic?

People whose ancestors came from the British Isles, Scandinavia,
Portugal and northern Spain tend to have heads that are narrower than
those of people that came from the rest of Europe. Arai helmets fit
them better.

Asians tend to have rounder heads with flatter faces, and Shoeis fit
them.

However, Shoei played a trick on us in the early 1990's and built
some
Arai-proportioned helmets.

My RF700 Shoei hits my cheeks and chin and fits snuggly, while my
older model Shoei flopped around
every time I moved my head.

www.denniskirk.com, house of helmets, cycle parts, Chaparral.

Pick up a copy of Motorcyclist magazine and start looking through the
ads.

There's plenty of helmet retailers online. But, I
wouldn't buy there without a personal fitting.

Here's an example:

I would think that <=$200 will pretty much
removes you from the high end Shoei's, Arai's,
etc.

You can't argue with the HJC offerings. I
replaced a Shoei(RF800) with an HJC,
and really like it. Seems like the HJC was
around $125-$135. The Shoei RF800
replacement would have been north of
$300.

As long as it's Snell- and DOT-rated, get the one that fits your head

You ought to buy your helmet from the store that lets you try them on
for size. :)

Perfect.  Some would argue that DOT approval is quite enough.
