Greetings from Australia

I have a strange problem... My Suzuki Bandit 1200 starts fine when cold.
When I have ridden somewhere, 5 km or 3 miles, it won't start again- the
starter motor turns over once or twice, but then runs out of puff fast
and dies out, too weak to start the motor.

Any ideas... I am a staunch self- repairer so don't just say "go to a
mechanic"

Hmmmm.  Don't know about bikes but I had a car once that had that
problem.  Seems the spark was too advances and it was firing too
early, catching the piston before optimal position.  That caused the
ignition explosion to try pushing the piston backward.

Thought for the day:

Hating people because of their color is wrong. And it doesn't matter which color
does the hating. It's just plain wrong.

junk@yahoo.com says...

I was watching this thread because I have a similar problem with the
XV. Changing the cheapo battery for a proper Yuasa one gave some
improvement but still the same basic problem.

So I have been gradually delving into the electrics and yesterday
determined the ignition is way too advanced. The problem is what to do
about it since its all electronics - suppose I will have to work
though the suggestions in the manual - and then buy a new TCI unit :-(

Check to see if your fuel pup is pumping.Sometimes that can cause that
problem.
