A frosty pint for all my air-cooled chums..
I recall reading a few threads here months ago about some problems
guys were having with the '07 big twins. One was the engines running
hot because of the (over?) lean condition and the other was some
problems with the new 6 speed. Is a Power Commander the easy for the
first problem? What's the story with the transmissions? Would like to
hear from any folks that bought '07s. A friend of mine is interested
in buying a new Dyna, but I'm not sure if she'd be better off with a
leftover or used '05-06.

I have a lot of experience with hot days. Usually don't hafta travel slowly
though (not hard out here in the desert).

What kinks are you experiencing? I bought an '07 in July and don't seem to
have 'em.

Keep in mind the EITMS replaces the prior system. TC-88s have a multi-stage
system, which AFAIK is not found on TC96s.

I thought the noise, due to the spur cut of 5th gear, was noticeable when
lugging. If so I'm not sure 6th is gonna make the motor happy. I don't use
6th till 70 MPH (usually 75+). I run at high, relatively speaking, RPM so I
suppose that could explain why I either don't hear the noise or am not
bothered by it. This is still with stock pipes BTW (not that the radio can't
drown out noise too).
Not too far past the break-in period I rode from AZ to WA. Rode non-stop on
the way back. Bike ran hard for 22 hours and 1,400 miles. Wouldn't hesitate
to do it again. Might still be crazy to do it, but wouldn't hesitate due to
the bike <g>.

Well the only kink I got now is there is too much snow on the ground
to go get my new bike!
I'm sure I'm not telling you anything new, but first year cars, bikes,
airplanes, anything complex and expensive, typically have some issue
or another that gets resolved with Engineering Change Notices or ECNs
we used to call them at the manufacturing plant where I once worked.
Little tweaks to production design to resolve issues that were often
reported by consumers. Sometimes they put ECNs in the middle of a year
and different criteria may call for the company to wait for a new
model year. I have no claim to know how The Mo Co does things but I
believe this is fairly typical.
Didn't the '06 Dyna have a bearing issue or someshit that needed a
lower end tear down every 15k miles?
I just prefer to wait for the second year. I've bought first year
vehicles before and I am now, it just ain't my preference.
After reading as much as I can about the reported issues I came away
convinced there isn't anything that can't be dealt with. 'sides I got
a deal I couldn't walk away from. (:-
With luck I'll get a cherry one like you Tinman!
Cheers,
Mild Bill
