Any input on 1/2 or 3/4 helmets? I need a hat for my summer trip
across the desert.

I'm leaning to a white Shoei RJ Platinum-R
http://www.shoei-helmets.com/road/product_launch_rjr.aspx

or a Nolan

I'm on my second Nolan N-41, my wife also has one. I've been across

3/4 provides better protection than 1/2. Fit is the most important
factor. Try on a bunch of helmets and see what feels right.

I'm lucky. I have an HJC shaped head. HJC helmets are good and at
the same time, less expensive than some other brands. I can't wear a
Nolan. I tried one and had to give it to my wife.

Shoei makes great helmets.

My ff is an HJC , from the Harley dealer on a great sale . My 3/4 is a
Fullmer , very reasonably priced at the Kawasaki dealer ... wish I'd been
wearing a ff helmet last time I wrecked .
A half helmet might as well not be wearing one .
