...is what they are forecasting for south of Kansas City, and I'm making
a 300+ mile round trip motorcycle ride in that heat. You probably think
I'm crazy, but this trip is for a very good reason. Friend of mine from
another forum lives in Holland. Not Holland, MO...Holland as in the
Netherlands. He's in the US riding Route 66 with a bunch of other guys
from Holland. Last year he was in the states and a bunch of us rode to
Sacramento CA together. During that trip he was introduced to
Moonshine...the legal stuff made in Gatlinburg, TN. Dries (the guy from
Holland) decided that he thoroughly enjoyed the stuff and wanted more.
He can't get it in Holland cuz they won't ship overseas, so I bought a
bunch for him, had it shipped to my house, and tomorrow I'm taking it to
Carthage MO to deliver it.
I can't think of a much better reason to ride around in weather so hot
that it's like being in the french fry bin at McDonalds. Well, maybe a
date with Kristanna Loken would be better, but I ain't gonna hold my
breath for that one.
If you never hear from me again it's because the bike broke down out in
the middle of nowhere KS/MO and the only fluids I had with me is the
moonshine so I drank it all to stay alive...and it killed me.

Wear a heavy long sleeved shirt under your bibs . Soak it well with water

10-4 on the long sleeved shirt. Got a few light gray ones that I use
specifically for riding in hot weather. Gray doesn't absorb heat like a
dark color, and they don't show the dirt and body grime, either. George
P. mentioned to sip water while riding...not just at fuel stops...so I
fashioned a cup holder for the bike. Gonna have lots of extra water in
the saddle bags.

Condition yourself by putting a large blow dryer on hi 2" from your
face. It won't be as hot but after a while you won't even notice it!
Isn't one of your bags a beer cooler? Should be!
danl the weather like that is summer down here Slug #280
