How is the day? Been getting ready to pull the primary on the Low
Rider. Plenty of meatl shaving in the crankcase oil and some in the
primary and transmission oils, too.
Anticipating that I'll have to pull the transmission, and havng seen
what happened to the wife's Street Bob tranny when the race worked its
way up the main shaft and started to chew on stuff, do I have to buy
the HD bearing and race puller (HD-34902A)? I've been told I can cut
the race off the shaft, but I'll need some tool to install the new
race.
Thanks for any tips, suggestions, commentss.

Buy the tool. You don't have to buy the H-D version. Jims makes
a version, as do many others. Check out this guy:

I've had fairly good luck with his tools.

I'm sure I haven't used Georges stuff to the extent Phil has, but what
have used has been quite satisfactory.
I even have a refrigerator magnet of his on my fridge

Couldn't imagine trying this without
the tool. It's a lot of work even if you
have it. I got the JIMS combo puller/
installer. The George stuff is good
too. I bought somethin-or-other
from him. Dead copy of the JIMS
stuff from what I've seen, but a
bit cheaper. Most folks never regret
buying a high quality tool.
Good luck and have fun wrenchin'!
