Belly up to the bar people, TL's buying if I can remember his card
number.
Been thinking about trading since the MoCo started offering ABS. Got
fairly serious a few weeks ago and started shopping around for a Ultra
Limited. The bike had pretty much everything I wanted except a back
rest.
ABS
103 engine
Oil Cooler
Auto Compression Releases
Then I also get 2-tone paint, heated grips, 121-volt plug in the trunk
and chrome wheels.
So I look at one they had Doug's but didn't like the color scheme.
Rode down to MB HD and looked at what they had, one of which was the
Vivid Black/Black Ice. Nice. They gave me a price which was about
$1200 too high but I couldn't ever get them to tell me what they'd
give for a trade in on mine.
Called Thunder Tower outside of Columbia and they had that color so
that Saturday (10/21) I took off to visit. Followed a light rain all
the way to I-95 where I hit a light, hit the brakes and started
slipping and sliding. Got off the brakes, straightened up, hit brakes
again and repeated. Twice.
So cut my trip short and turned in at Doug's. They got Thunder Tower
to trade them the bike and they sold it to me for $25,644 OTD. Decent
trade on mine, not great but decent and got me to what I was willing
to pull out my pocket. I picked it up the following Wednesday.
Very nice bike. If I had to describe it I'd say solid. Just a solid
feeling ride. Only bike I've ridden that is comparable are the CVO
Ultras.
The only bike I've owned I can take my hands off the bars and it
tracks straight.
I think I'll keep it.

I dunno what 121v would come in handy for... probably shoulda got 220.

That's precisely the one word that comes outta everyone's mouth after they
ride 'em...... "solid".
Some folks might suggest that chrome wheels are kinda poser-ish. Those
that've polished those 28-spoke aluminum monstrosities would not be among
them. Figure on adding 4 or 5 lbs of air every time you check the front tire
pressure. Cuz that's what you'll lose just trying to get a gauge on the POS.
Leaves you wondering what kind of moron came up with that idea. Obviously no
one that's ever put air in a tire........
Enjoy your SE compensator. Mine was extra.

Really? As you have seen, I'm not driven to spit and polish nearly as
much as you Tom. I wash the bike 3 or 4 times a year when it gets bad
or is going to sit a long while. I didn't think scrubbing the
aluminum cast wheels was so bad using the S101 stuff. I'm not
entering into any show either, but yes, I wrote off the chromed wheels
as pure poser bling.
The dealer has a black 2010 Ultra with chrome wheels, ABS, and the 103
engine on his show floor. I'll see how hungry he is for a deal.

Is there some reason a person couldn't install an angled valve stem on
the first tire change? That was my plan.

I expect I'll eventually have that to deal with too. Hopefully they
will do a recall on it before I need it done. If not, I'll pay the
"tax" I suppose.
Thanks for the observations.

Nope! Chrome wheels last if you take care of 'em, & are real
easy to clean.

www.bikeeffects.com/proddetail.asp?prod9701&catƒ90 You'd
have seen a set on my bike if it had come up at Snarl's or The Cabin.

Shirley, buy them all a round, it's Friday night.
I solved the valve stem problem with one of these.

Works well for me, YMMV
