The shop closed at 6:00 and it was 5:34 in the middle of rush hour
traffic on a Thursday.  Having not heard anything about the bike I
finally called in the late morning.  A guy said he didn't know the
status but the bike was out in the front so he assumed it was done.

We got there at 5:47, no time to spare.  I had gotten off work early
but traffic from work was intense.

Wife went through the front entrance for reasons of her own and I went
through the service entrance.  The bike was hard to spot at first,
being in the very last row in the back corner, but from the front it
looked great.  New fairing, mark on the tank buffed out.  It didn't
look as good from the back.  Saddlebags not swapped out yet, left
muffler not replaced.  I was told the muffler and saddlebags that had
arrived were the wrong parts.  I said that's ok, it's just cosmetic,
and I could always take the bike back to the shop later, but any
reason why I couldn't take it for a spin now?

Like, please?  Don't make me beg.

They couldn't find the paperwork but handed me the key anyway.  Wife
arrived with a silver bell.  My understanding is that you can't buy
the bell for yourself, it must be a gift.  She handed it to me and
said "You aren't allowed to ride without this."  My wife.  I think
I'll keep her.  I zip tied the bell to the light bar.

Someone had tuned the stereo to the classical station.  What the hell,
I left it there.

Traffic was still heavy as I headed west on Scholls Ferry Road.  I
thought of all the squirrly roads I knew in the area, decided I wasn't
up for that yet.  So took Scholls to River Road to a rather energetic
Chopin piano concerto, to Farmington, and then back home.  In the
neighborhood, I rode past the house and just tooled slowly around the
side streets for awhile.  The 3/4 helmet had been wrecked in the
accident so was wearing the full, and it was too hot a day for it.
Should have gone for the half.  After awhile I had to admit I was just
wasting time, drove back to the house and parked the bike.  I waited
until the end of the concerto before turning off the bike.  Daughter
came out after a few minutes, asked how it went.  It went pretty good,
thanks.  Pretty good.

Congo rats on gettin' the barge back and gettin' back in the breeze.

If you're subscribing to that you should know it's s'posed to be mounted low
and forward to ward off road gremlins.
