Yesterday I got my jacket back. The contractor the dealer uses did an
excellent job of stitching up the jacket where the EMTs cut it off me.
It's definitely wearable and you have to look hard to see it was ever
apart. I also confirmed that (as I was told) it has pockets for armor
in the elbows and back, (I didn't know this) as does all modern Harley
jackets, so will be investing in armor add-ons in the near future.
I was told by the cashier that this will be the last jacket the
contractor will be doing at least in the immediate future because her
husband had a sudden onslaught of terminal cancer and they're
traveling overseas to relatives next week. I don't even know her name.
I talked to the deity and asked that he have kind thoughts towards her
family, figuring that he knows who she is even if I don't.
Since I was there, I wandered back to the service center. They have a
bright orange v-rod dragster on display there and I reminded the guy
that my daughter is absolutely in love with that bike. He said he'd
be more than happy to sell it to her. I don't think it's street
legal.
Noisy Glide was on the lift and I was invited to come back to look at
her. They've got the front end done (faring replaced) and he was just
starting to work on the rear, so I took a quick look and let him get
back to work. Man, it was good seeing her again. I got a little
choked up, and if that makes me a pussy, I can live with that.
The mechanic asked how I weathered the accident so I showed him the
part of the scar you can easily get to and he was impressed that I was
upright before the bike was.
Parenthetically, it's good to see that the folks in service understand
the attachment we have for our bikes (well, me anyway) and are willing
to take a few minutes from their busy schedules to allow the
occasional visit. A lot of places wouldn't do that.
They say they'll be finished by next Tuesday. I could be back on the
road in two days, and the weather is still good. This could be ok.

Reminds me of when I had my shovel rebuilt and asked the owner of the garage
to take pictures as he worked on it. He understood and took some good shots
with the 2 disposable cameras I left him.

Both you and the bike - on the mend... good things! Armor is
another very good thing.
