I'm questioning how popular this statement will be, but I think it's past
time for HD to make a whisper quiet, liquid cooled 6200 RPM stock engine.
DOHC?
I've got the stock exhaust back on the FXR and at 3800+ RPM it's as quiet
and smooth as any other stock bike I've ever ridden and, happily pulls to
5000 when passing on the interstate. Problem is, at lower RPMs the valve
train is louder than hell bouncing off the aftermarket fairing, back to the
rider. I'm going to look into some sound proofing material for the driver
side of the faring from the headlight down, and maybe behind the clocks.
Might be worth a shot.
Guess I'm finally getting old. I just want a smooth, comfortable, quiet
bike, that pulls like a Mack from 2800, and has no problem making and
holding 90MPH uphill, fully loaded, in a headwind, in top gear.

They might as well. You can't see the top of
the motor on their bikes anymore anyway.
The newer riders just want the Harley name,
100% reliability, and something that resembles
the past.

Been saying its gonna happen for years. That little liquid tube around
the valve won't be enough tho............
