Drinks on me folks as you ponder....
I'm looking for theories from any of y'all that know anything
about this stuff...
FXDirty, '98 Evo, stock CV carb. Screamin' Eagle ignition module,
no electronics or computers that I know of.
I jumped on the highway and had a need fror speed,
found a clear couple of miles and nailed it, got to around
115 in 5th gear, hit what felt like the top of the rev limiter,
supposed to be 6000 rpm with this module, and it died,
lost all power but still chugging so I managed to limp to an
exit about a mile, shut her down, scratched my head wondering
if I blew the motor, started it up and drove home with no
problems. Sorta like it reset itself by shutting it down and restarting.
Anybody have any theories? Ignition modile ready to go TU
maybe? Prior to this it would hit the top rpm and just prevent
me from going any faster. This time it shut me down almost.
thanks
roach back on the road. :)

Time for a Pingle high flow petcock. Or, you can slow down.

OK. It's 3-0 for lack of fuel, and looking back, that's what it felt like.
It has been 50,000 miles since I looked at the fuel filter. But I think
I'll also take Snarl's and Your advice and slow down. I just got that
speed otch for a second and had to scratch it. :)
Thanks

Not germane to your fueling problem, but maybe germane to your need for
speed; one of the reasons why I sold the Ducs in favor of a bagger was
that the Ducs made me realize two things. I'm old enough (older than
you, so maybe this isn't relevant yet, but something to tuck away in the
back of your head) that my eyesight and reflexes aren't as good as they
used to be and really aren't good enough to be going fast on a
legitimately fast bike. The other thing was that I'm not disciplined
enough to keep from riding a genuinely fast bike fast.
So now I got a slow bike that I can ride within my own limits as well as
the bike's limits.
