Have one of whatever you like on me.
There have been one or more recent threads about tire wear
on the '09 bikes with the 17" front wheel.
I stopped in to see an independent repair guy about a rear
tire for my '00 Road Glide. Interestingly, he can't get some
_rear_ tires from his supplier right now, apparently Dunlop
can't keep up with demand.
But he also had an '09 Road King (police version) and he
brought up the "17" front tire problem", showed me the first
tire he had - you could see the wear.
His solution was to replace the entire front wheel assembly
with a 16" front wheel and a Dunlop 16" tire.
I believe he said he also had to replace the axle and
bearing inside - this was necessary to get everything to
work properly with the Brembo/ABS sensor that mounts to the
front axle.
Once he had the right parts combination, the old 16" front
wheel goes right on, and everything works with the ABS as
before.
It _looks_ much better than the 17" wheel, too. A "more
traditional" appearance. I never liked the look of the
40-spoke wheel and smaller tire, but that's just me.
Have another one!

Gee, wonder where he (Indy) heard of that, heh, heh. Next time yer in
there ask him for th' part #'s for th' conversion and post it in here,
please. I know there's a few folks interested in addressing that
issue.
