Bike Week & the Economy

     Guess it depends on who you're listenin' to...  For weeks now
all the news geeks have been reportin' about how bad the tourist count
is in Central Florida & how the hotels/motels are cuttin' discounts on
rooms.
    Fast forward to this mornin'......  The news geeks are
declairin' "Bike Week, which starts *today* is going to be better &
bigger than in recent years because Myrtle Beach is puttin' the brakes
on their event."  Not too big a stretch for the news geeks, but they
even have a few of Daytona's politicians makin' comments & welcoming
bikers.  The interesting part is that for years the politicos have
worked to keep the opening of Bike Week to the first Saturday.  Now
that they need the bux, it "opens" on Thursday?!
    There are claims of vendors & displays being set up.  Don't
know if that's true since I haven't been anyplace other than the
grocery store since last weekend, but in the interest of keepin' you
folks informed I guess I'll just have to fire up the scoot & make a
little tour of the area.  No, no, don't thank me!  I can brave the
elements in the interest of keepin' y'all informed, but it *is* only
64 out there right now.  Forcast is for upper 70's today & high 60's
to high 70's all next week with a 30% chance of showers on Sunday.
Damn, I hate winter..................
