I have to sell my RK. Not real happy about that, but some health issues have
come up that will make it likely I'll drop it and won't be able to pick it up.
Anyway I haven't sold a bike in over 40 years so I wonder what the best options
are for marketing it. Options are local news paper. Craig's List, and sticky
notes at the local super market. Maybe a consignment via a local dealer? There's
got to be a better way, no??? And what kind of gotcha's might there be in a
personal sale like this? I'm totally in untraveled territory with this.

I'd prefer to sell it myself rather than consignment, but that could
limit your pool of buyers to those who have the money or have arranged
their own financing. The only way they can get Harley financing is
through a dealer (last time I checked). You can private sell it and have
a dealer do Harley financing but they'll want about 500 bucks to do the
paperwork for you (again, last time I checked). Bastards.

I sold bikes in 2003 and 2008, 2003 I went in the newspaper and 2008 I
used Craiglist. I think I got more hits on Craigslist, plus the free
part is nice.

I also got a fair price from the insurance company in 2007, the bike
pretty much sold itself. Figured I'd throw that in there before Jinks or
Steve Irv did.

I don't know about the US but we don't finance any bikes we don't own

There's

Whatcha gonna do with th' dinero?  Think trade or barter mebbe.  I've
been lookin' for a slightly used Caddy and see folks wantin' to trade
stuff for one on craigs list pretty often.  They have a barter section
too.

Snarl... just another option
