Drinks on me.

Have been consumed by work lately.  I'm actually working today
(sunday) but am in a part where I have to wait for the computer to
finish, hence this update.

The bike really wanted me to take her for a ride, but the weather has
not been cooperating.  Was raining all last week, but we got a break
in the rain yesterday so I took Noisy Glide out of the garage.  We
went to the Harley shop where I got a reference to someone who could
fix a sleeve zipper on the jacket, and picked out a headlight.  We
found the old light cracked after getting the bike out of the shop and
the insurance company agreed to add it on to the claim.  I'll pay the
difference between the cost of replacement and the bulb I picked.  I'm
told the saddlebag will finally arrive mid next week  The current
saddlebag still works, just a bit scarred, but insurance will replace
it so what the hell.  Maybe I'll keep the old one as a spare.

After that, was free for a couple hours so headed west on Sholls Ferry
and explored the hills around Sherwood.  The air was cool, the road
dry, perfect Ended up in Hillsboro, stopped at Petco and got a rat,
headed home, and fed the snake.  (This is not an euphemism.  Daughter
owns a nearly-seven-foot boa constrictor.)

Bike still clatters, but I've read that all TC88s do so I'm not too
worried about it.  It's very quiet at startup, starts clattering at
about 3200 rpm, doesn't quiet down when warmed up.  Has always done
that.  Replacing the cam chain tensioner with the hydraulic assembly
didn't make much difference in the noise level.  Popping off the
rocker covers didn't show much except a slight marring under one cover
by one of the rockers.  I've heard that in some engines the lifters
clattered against the covers, something about cascade tolerance
failure, but routing out the area didn't make an appreciable
difference.  So I'm just riding it.

In fact, it looks relatively dry, so I think I'll go out now.  In
Portland, in winter, you take what you can get.
