Plastic is on the bar, knock yourselves out.

I haven't posted here for awhile, but am looking for some insight into
a strange thing that happened to me today.

After working hard and saving my pennies, I bought a brand spankin'
new bike.  I sold my old Softail to someone who had a thing for old
bikes that don't run well with 88K+ miles.  I got a new 2011 Street
Glide.  I suppose at my advanced age it's time I move on to a Geezer
Glide.

I've had it for only a couple of weeks and was out riding this
afternoon when it stopped moving.  The engine was running fine but I
felt like I couldn't get it into gear.  I stopped and got off it and
while I walking around it, I found my belt, (that's right, the Aramid
secondary belt), broken on the street.

The bike has 184 miles on it, so I called the dealer from my cell, and
they sent someone over with a trailer.  As an aside, I've always said
that if you see my bike on a trailer, report it stolen.  This is my
very first time being trailered, and it's NOT fun.

Anyway, I looked at the broken belt, and every fourth tooth had a hole
in it on the interior side.  Exterior side was pristine.  I didn't get
a chance to look at the sprocket.
My first thought was that I caught something between the belt and the
sprocket, but I imagine that if that happened wouldn't the sprocket
kick it out as it turns?  I didn't have a chance to crawl around under
the bike to see if anything was rubbing on the inside of the belt, but
if there were something rubbing, why every fourth tooth?

When I got to the dealer, I asked the Service guy, and he said it
looks like "Road Hazard", which is their way of saying it's not
covered by warranty.

Helpful input is very much appreciated.  As usual, thanks in advance.

Don't know what state you live in but mine allows an unconditional
return within five days as a part of the "lemon law".

If that isn't applicable for you I would escalate the problem to
Milwaukee. Can't hurt. Try to make them prove to you the "road hazard"
theory and not a defective belt. Offer to split the bill as a last resort.
