Shirley, please set up a couple of pitchers on me.
Well, after moving I thought I had everything pretty much in place.
Everything except the manual for Little Eva. I've looked high and low
and almost everywhere in between except where it's hiding!
The reason I'm lookin for it is this morning when I started her up I
noticed a slight gas smell. When I got home it was slightly more
pronounced. I took the air cleaner and housing off and wiped
everything off. I started her up and noticed a slight wet look where
the hose connects to the elbow on the carb. I thought no problem and
took the clamp off, cut a half inch off the hose and replaced it onto
the elbow. With the clamp re-tightened I was gonna put everything
back on and thought better of it. I opened the petcock and started
her up. MMM, after a minute or so there was a slight wet look again.
Clamp is tight, hose is good and no gas flowing on the outside of the
clamp or hose. Maybe a small crack in the plastic elbow? I'm not
sure if 10% ethanol will damage the material of the elbow on a 96
Sporty or not.
Can't find the manual so I am not sure how the elbow is attached to
the carb.
A double off the top shelf for the answer!
If anyone out here is clairvoyant and can tell me where the manual is
hiding drinks free all night!

That may be true, but not the answer.

The answer is that it's pressed in , and can be removed and replaced by an
all metal unit - the elbow is plastic , on a short straight metal tube that
goes into the carb . The plastic ones are notorious for cracking at the
least stress . My bike has a metal one , but it was on there when I got it ,
so I don't know where they can be had . Might check online , J&P cycles or
Jireh might stock them . Might also check with your local indy shop .

Thanks to Snag and Roach for the answer. They both are labeled with a
time of 5:52 on my computer so both get to drink what ever they want
off the top shelf tonight.
Here's my card Shirley, take care of these gents for me while I search
the net for a part.
