can you imagine just how much money is going to be wasted here the
vehicle can be as old as a 84 hell they should had said they had to be
pre 84 and get a ton of junk off the road too

you and I pay the dealers 3500-4500 for every car they sell to a scrap
yard which in turns sells off the parts back to the tax payers

And over the life of the new vehicle.....how much do ya save in fuel costs??
Which would include a BUNCH of taxes that would normally go to state and
fed.....and with a reduction in the sale price of between $3500-$4500, how much
do ya save in sales taxes and licensing fees??

My dad and I talked about this proposed program yesterday, since he's been
considering a new vehicle, and I just bought one (well, it was a 2008 with 16K
on the clock).......with the manufacturers he wanted, he was unable to find a
vehicle that qualified in the class he was looking.

One of the things I considered when vehicle shopping recently is that we're
already allowed to write off the sales tax on the purchase of new vehicles
bought this year up to a purchase price of $45K. I suppose this would count the
purchase of new bikes.....<sfsf>

We found that being able to write off a couple thousand is sales taxes wasn't as
good a deal as buying a one year old vehicle and letting the original owner eat
the initial depreciation, etc.

The "programs" always sound good, but aren't always that useful....or even with
the added incentive, in this economy many folks won't bite even with the help.

We traded off the Mrs.'s 2000 Nissan Xterra with 115K on the clock (rear end was
howling) for a 2008 Nissan Pathfinder with 16K miles. Gave $22.5K for the new
vehicle, got $4300 in trade on the old one. The 2009 Pathfinders were running
between $27K-$32K and qualified for a $1500 rebate and are in somewhat short
supply.

Good thing the "new" one still has 20K miles and 2 years left on it's base
warranty (as well as a 7 yr, 75K mile extended already on it)......we had it two
weeks and I noticed it had a pinion seal leaking......took it in, Nissan
replaced the entire final drive assembly on their dime <sfsf> (they don't do
rebuilds of components, they replace entire assemblies). Parts cost showed N/C
to me, their paperwork showed nearly $2K......labor costs weren't listed.

Was a minor PIA having her truck and my bike in the shop at the same time, she
was taking my truck to the park and ride to catch mass transit to
work.......left me "stranded" at home. Still haven't gotten my bike back yet,
they'll have had it two weeks tomorrow.
