This weekend meant work at the second round of the national dragbike
championships. Real hot, the speaker booth topped out just below 110
degrees but it was a nice weekend.

Apart from the usual suspects we had a visit by a crew from Norway
headed up by nitrobike veteran Tom Leret. They brought a good sense of
humour, two old nitro Iron Sporty powered dragbikes, one 40+ year old
blown nitro-Triumph, Stefan Reistens 1000cc nitro-Honda (first Euro-bike
into the 7s) and a 2 x 500cc Jawa powered nitro-bike.

I wish I knew more and I wish I'd have time to take more pictures both
on-track and in the pits. Way too few pictures at

That's actually all local Swedish homebrew. The original builder/rider
was Stefan Reisten who was a world class Top Fuel Bike rider back in the
80's and was the first rider in the world to back up a 6-second ride in
the quarter-mile (not on that bike though). The frame is homebuilt as is
a lot of other stuff, Stefan was/is good with the metalworking machines
and the cylinder block is all billet stuff together ith a few nifty
solutions. The supercharher is a vintage Magnusson and the case looks
like it was sandcasted rather than all machined. Stefan is still doing
TF bike work and has been helping to tune Sverre Dahls bike. Sverre is
another of them nitro bikers from Norway and boasts the tenth quickest
time (6.147) on two wheels in history and who ran the worlds third
fastest speed (237.91 mph) at last years Euro Championship round at
Gardermoen Raceway. I was speaker there when he pulled that speed run
and I actually shut up for a few seconds.

A pic from the mid-80's at http://www.ukdrn.co.uk/80/8262.htm

Him and another Swedish Top Fuel Bike rider, Peter Svensson, was kicking
butt back when. Peter Svensson was up there with Elmer Trett and took
his bike to the US and ran at Indy in 1998. A long time ago but Peter
ran a 6.143 then and that run still has Peter in the 9th spot for all
time quickest two wheelers. Him and Elmer Trett are the only riders on
the all time list for the "Quickest and fastest bike list" that have
runs recorded back in the 1990's. There are rumours floating around that
Peter is up for a comeback.

Builds all his own stuff http://hem.passagen.se/billet
