What the hell, I'll buy a round.  I can use one.

Two days ago, on my way home from work, some old gal (younger than me)
pulled out of a driveway and left me no alternative but to smack into
her old pot of a 1999 Toyota. I'm OK, save for a thumb that may have
suffered some ligament damage, and she had insurance, so the bike is
covered adequately. It'll need a whole new front end, unless it
tweaked the frame, which would probably cause them to total it. I'm
still in a reasonably high level of pain, due to the thumb, but am
back at work this morning. I figure that perhaps it'll keep my
attention off the fact that I hurt and won't be able to ride for who
knows how long?

Glad you walked away from it. My right thumb got
whacked so I could back off on front brake use a
little and rely more on the rear. Left thumb is a
bit harder to avoid the clutch with. Hope it's a
quick heal regardless.

Whatever you mean, IMHO it's generally best to use front and rear brakes
  equally.
