Anyone know of an inexpensive program that'll allow enhancing a video? I
have one I'd like to try to lighten some. It is motorcycle related...

Thanks,

Les

Windows media player 9 allows brightness control. If it doesn't show
up go to view-enhancements-video settings and it will open the video
seetings window. Whether a lightened video can be saved in that
condition, I'm not sure. I'm pretty sure there must be some video
editing shareware or freeware that can do the trick.

Shit, I didn't realize it would do that. I checked out the video, looks
like Jerry screwed up. He missed me riding up to the dyno booth on the
Slug Bike and asking if they could handle the power. Oh well...

I use and recommend Pinnacle Studio 10 but you'll need a current fast
computer to run it effectively. I believe it allows color and shading
correction. It's a watered down, consumer version of the stuff Hollywood
uses for film editing.

Like Schmoe, I use Pinnacle 10. (10.5)
It works in a non threatening, semi-sorta-similar way to the AVID
systems we use in professional post production.
I picked it up used with the capture card for $25.00. (retails for
$80.00) It is a RAM hog though. (1 gig recommended).
BUT, you can only adjust the brightness, not the contrast. You must buy
the upgrade to Studio Plus to get that and more.
unfortunately, brightness alone doesn't cut it. It may be way too
washed out when you are done.

However, as Les pointed out, if you are running XP you should have
Windows Movie Maker bundled in. If you don't, you can download it from
Microsoft along with any Movie Maker upgrades. And that is free.

Happy editing,
