I am famous for posting my errors in other news groups, and here I decided I
would be no exception.
Some of you know I inherited my brothers 93 Fatboy. Now as his passing was
unexpected, I didn't get a "new owners briefing"
That being said, hear my story. Laugh if you will; for that's what life is
all about.
The first time I went to gas up, the left custom gas cap was stuck. wouldn't
open.., darn, NBD, fill the right and let it settle. Haven't ridden the bike
a lot filled it up a few times. Found a new gas cap in my bro's stuff so Dad
and saved it and decided to replace the faulty one.
Well, I can't get the wife on the crotch rocket ;) so today being a
wonderful day here in Oregon I asked her if she would like to go for a ride
on the hog. She said sure. Pulled it out from Dad's shop (we are co-owners)
choke; it fired up. Good, now Dad lets fix this cap. Tried BIG channel
locks- won't come loose. Drove a punch through it, won't come loose. Little
by little we chipped and hacked at this darn plastic cap until we finally
got it out!
Who the F*ck decided it needed left handed threads on a freaking fuel cap? I
understand left threads on axles and all sorts of stuff but the fuel cap?
Anyway, no ride for the wife, will stop at the HD dealership tomorrow to see
if that is something they carry. Promised her a nice ride to the Oregon
Coast next Saturday. ;)
OTOH, I had a great Solo ride on the Crotch Rocket!!!

It's so you can tell the left side, unvented cap from the right side, vented
one.  If you had a vent on the left side all the gas would drain out through
the vent when you left it parked.

<g> Wally, your being too kind these days.
I really liked seeing the Shovel in person over the weekend, can't wait to
hear it, loved the paint job, it really looks good.

I tried to fire it up last night.  Apparently somewhere in the last year and
a half I hooked the wrong plug wires to the wrong plugs.  If my ignition
system was stock this wouldn't be a big deal. If I had a Superglide like
Lynn's it wouldn't be a big deal.  But, since it's not and I don't, I have
to pull the tank tonight and swap the wires around.
Gettin' close!
Great to have you guys up this weekend.  Jason came up and took the cop car
off my hands, and even removed most of the stripes while he was here.

That was strange seeing a cop-car with cop-tires and a cop-engine and a
cop-suspension in your driveway.
Ok not a cop car but close, how's that go "... it's 106 miles to Chicago, we
got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're
wearing sunglasses ... hit it.."
It was a good trip even in the rain, maybe the next trip will be on the
bike.
