Shirley, set 'em up with top shelf stuff.
After spending Thursday wandering around the Huntsville area looking at
rockets and eating BBQ, we decided to pull a little maintenance and change
the fork oil before he left for the next leg of the adventure. Just because
it seemed like fun, I cleverly removed the threads form the left fork lower
when I removed the drain screw. After a mad dash to the parts store at 9pm,
(O'Reilley closed after I told them we were coming for the heli-coil kit) we
headed back to the house for some much needed sleep. I found a 8mm
heli-coil kit at another parts store this morning and got the plug back in
with no drips. Last time I saw Grizz, he was heading south on AL 69 (true
highway, look it up) on his way to Dallas. I heard from Tattooed Goddess
around 7pm that he was in central LA and still heading west.
Hope some of you in that direction will watch out for the guy and help him.
He'd never had okra before he got here and though 90 degrees in Alabama was
"hot" so it's obvious he needs looking out for<g>.
Safe travels my friend, wish I could have gone with you but work was
waiting. Let us know how the trip is.
Paulie

He made it to Dallas ok, rolling in late about 11:00 pm last night. I
suspect he will be heading out to the west coast early after we fill him up
with some breakfast.

There's a reason most all y'all[1] are so big down there.
The food's tasty all right but my arteries harden every time I look at
it. That stuff was meant for people working the fields from sunup to
sundown, not keyboard cowboys. I gained 6 pounds in a week.
[1] my attempt at typing all southern like.

Well I got filled up with breakfast, and am getting about ready to
head out. Getting a little later start today, I slept real good last
night. I'm taking 40 west. Don't know exactly how far I'll get, but
I'm sure I'll have fun getting there <g>.
Thanks a bunch Paulie. The bike worked great. Fork hasn't leaked, and
the clutch works great. I managed to get dirt back on the areas that
we had wiped off <g>, so the bike looks like it should.
I don't really know that I need *help* though. Tom *helped* me with a
route, and now I'm heading toward California. It's all his fault. Tud
will back me up. He's a bad influence. I would never have thought
about going to California on my own.<sfsf>
There's too many people to thank, but I would like to say thanks to
everyone I've met, and spent time with. That's the most enjoyable part
of the trip. I'll also apologize to the folks who I'm not able to meet
up with.
And yes Paulie, for a fella from the "Great White North", it's hot as
a fuck down here. <sfsf>
I've posted my cell number a few times, but here it is again.
9024520792. Irv, are you paying attention? Wanna go for a ride <g>.
And Al, I'm headed in your general direction. You're west of Texas
right?
