As much as I like my bike (09 Ultra), it is really starting to get on
my nerves.
In the two years I have owned it I have some 16 warranty claims mainly
related to poor quality materials.
It could be 17 very shortly as the stereo seems to be acting up too.
The truly upsetting thing is that this isn't just some lemon among
other better made bikes. Everything that has happened to my bike has
happened to many others as well although none have had all of them go
wrong.
Wheel bearings are going so fast we have had a difficult time keeping
stock.
Pulleys, starters, switches, stereos, locksets, compensators. The list
goes on. And on.
When I returned from California with a noisy primary I was told it
sounded like the clutch hub bearing.
When they pulled it apart it turned out to be the bearing, the hub,
the compensator and the chain.
And the front wheel bearing for the second time this year.
The AMF days seem to be returning.
Guess I'll just have to get the 12 year warranty and let them slowly
rebuild the bike.

Slowly?

Well, I figure some of it will probably last maybe 10 years before
it's a whole new bike.

We went up to York September 2009 and did a plant tour. No smiling
faces, no welcomes, no sharing. Mostly unhappy people. It was
depressing. I am not surprised that additional quality issues are
showing up.

That's what I figure.
People who lose their jobs are unhappy.
Sometimes those who are left working are even unhappier.
Friends are gone, workloads are increased and the threat of losing
their jobs looms larger with every downturn.
Once the word on these quality issues starts getting around, and I
have to think it has, the downturn will be larger yet.
