Strange request perhaps but lets get some money put on the bar so you
all can get a beverage or three of your choice.
Here's the story...
Mr Bike, 2000 FXDWG, is coming up for 50k miles. I've carried out the
routine servicing on him for most of those miles but I could do with
some help please.
There's some nasty looking rust on the frame downtubes that I would
like to take care of, I'm thinking of maybe stripping him down so's I
can get the frame blasted and then powdercoated. Does anyone have an
idea of what parts I should replace as a precaution/out of necessity
when I get to put everything back together again.
I checked out the transmission sprocket in situ just by running my
fingers over it, I must say it felt quite worn. I was wondering if
anyone has a picture of a sprocket that has just reached the point of
when it should be replaced. If I need to buy a new one I'd rather get
the set stateside.
I'm coming over to Greensburg PA for a week in July and I would like
to get any necessary parts tools while I'm there. Any help is greatly
appreciated.
I'll leave the cash on the bar, help yourselves until it runs out.
Cheers

Hmmm so many choices so little time. I'll take that one.

Hmmm a little look-see on the map places Greensburg not to far from
http://www.allgoodfestival.com/ . Risa and I will be there pretending it's
Woodstock. If it's the same time you're there, come on down.
BTW, I'd change engine mounts/bolts if I was stripping down a bike. Rubber
wears over time and fresh mounts couldn't hurt. It's a whole 70 miles. Well
below your infamous midnight PBR Vermort run. :)

Hey waddaya know! We land at jfk on Friday 14th pm, possibly stay
with some friends in Manhattan before driving over to Greensburg on
Saturday, arriving late pm. When do you leave the festival to travel
home, maybe we could hook up then? I don't suppose it would be easy
leaving the site on Saturday night to hook up, but then again why
would ya, unless you're staying in a hotel...
