I'm eyeballing an 01 Lowrider w/5K miles on it.  It has a few extras and
looks very clean:
-Windsheild
-Custom exhaust (not sure which)
-Custom pegs
-Carriage Works Mag Wheels
-Sissybar and pad w/luggage rack
-Highway pegs

Here's a pic:

That's basically the bike I've always wanted.  They want $12.5K for it.
Is this a good deal?  I've got cash in hand and won't be financing.
Were there any big changes (worth an extra $6-7K for a new one) from 01
to 06 on the Lowriders?

Also, are there any good online sites to help me value HD's (similar to
Edmunds)?  My main target is a Lowrider or Deuce.  I need to ride both
(actually have rode a Lowrider before) but it seems the Dyna's might be
more my taste than the Softails.  I've sat on both at the shop and the
Lowrider feels a little more comfy to me as well.

Thanks for any input and everyone have a cold one on me,

Scott

Burp!  Thanks....

The only changes I can recall are the fuel injection (but it looks like
the bike you are looking at has the preferred Delphi system) and a 6 speed
trans that a new one might have.

Also the new models probably have catalytic convertors that you may not
want.

Good looking bike offer them 11.5 or make them and install a race tuners
kit and dyno it (the pipe change means the fuel injection needs to be
tweeked), if your a tall guy have them throw in a set of forward controls.

It depends on how you feel about the price..... do you feel as "comfy"
with the price as you did sitting on it? I would check around just to give
you piece of mind.... then offer him 12 grand....or 11.5 for it....new, it
probably went for not much more than that.... it sounds like it has been
well taken care of due to low mileage..... do they offer any warrantee with
it?
For me, when I buy anything... I always ask myself if I can live with
paying the price.... its not always about price.. its sometimes about
availability too... if what yo  uare looking for isn't so readily available,
(this case I am sure you can find alot of 01 deuces or low riders) you just
may end up paying a higher price for the item just for that reason.....
believe me, I've bouight many items that were antique that are rare to find
that cost me dearly..... I wasn't always happy with thte price, but after a
couple of years of poking around and finally finding one.. well what would
you do??
So.... check around and see what others of similar type are selling
for... etc etc...

good luck..

Thanks for the Oberon. I like the FXDL and 12.5 sounds pretty good. They
made a bunch of changes with the 06s but only you can decide if they are
worth the difference.

By all accounts, the 06s have some major improvements over previous
model years - the beefier frame not the least of these.  Is it worth $6-
7k more than the one you found. -  Which speaks to you the way this one
does?

Doubtful.

NADA will give you an indicator.  I'd also do a search on eBay for same
model/yr.  Make sure you look at completed auctions, then at the ones
where a transaction occured - where bids were actually made and any
reserve was met. That will give you an indicator of the market.

I think you'd find the Dyna to be a better riding machine.

Sounds like you found yer baby.  As some wise guy is fond of saying "Ride
her like you stole her!"
