Heh, guys and ladies. I have posted a bit some time ago about some strange
problems on my '03 FLHTCUI. So if you have a minute pull up a chair, have
an icy cold "Root Beer" or other beverage of choice and tell me what you
think. Plastics on the bar!
The '03 shuts down when its hot outside, like Monday on the way home from
work and its around 102. Changed the main breaker twice now. Checked what
I can and hate to pay for more labor when the local MoCo shop can't seem to
replicate the problem either . I just can't figure out whats going on and
getting real tired of a total electrical/mechanical shutdown in traffic.
So, having some resources still and before Obama taxes away what I have left
'am think just getting a complete shiny new set of problems.
'09 or '10 FLHTCUI is high on my list. I have heard mostly good things
about the new frame, but have heard a couple of bits of info that the
engines lower end has some rebuilding issues if it ever needs it. Thoughts?
Always had a hankering for a Boss Hoss but have never had an opportunity to
ride one and I'm guessing for a long haul the Geezer Glide would be the
better choice. Anyone every ride one or have anything to say about em?
Also thinking about taking a look at the BMW K1200 Tourer and (hides head)
the Gold Wing.
So grab another root beer and tell me what your thinking.
Thanks
RB

boss who?!?!?!? geezer glide......huh.... how many miles you put on!?!?!?
no one here rides a geezer glide... those are old man bikes.... no old men
here....just me.... they all went to bed at 10:15.... they watch the news
and as soon as the weather is over they go to bed.... because they are out
riding all day...and need to know which direction to meander so they don't
get to wet....or rather drenched.... wet is part of riding....

on those things... and they have air conditioning as standard on those
things..... hell just get a miata... then you can still use it when it
rains....

Funny how reality seems to get in the way of personal biases and partisan
dogma......

Ok, you got my attention.

Short. And they're never easy to track down... but since it just
happened recently to Banker, I'd try this: look between the battery and
the starter. Give the wires a good tug and see which ones come off in
your hand. Look for shiney wires rubbing. After that, get out the ohm
meter and start testing for ground.

First I heard about this... where you getting your info?

Don't know how comfortable a Boss Hoss is as a tourer, but it wouldn't
be my first choice.
Maybe you aren't planning on touring.
BMW... some people love them, some people trade them in to buy Road
Glides.
The reasons are in the archives.
Gold Wing... I wrote up a pretty detailed assessment back in Aug 05:
Look for "Honda GW Assessment"
MMMMmmm, thanks for the Bombay Sapphire Martini.

I've never ridden one (not really wanting to either), but those things (IMHO)
looks like a rolling abortion.....don't know why anyone would want one.
Unless it's for the same reason I see guys driving "monster trucks" around town
as daily commuters........cause they have issues with the size of their,
um.......
