Actually, that's not a bad name. Noisy Glide. I may have found a
handle for the ride.
Next round on me. For those coming in late, it's a 2003 Ultra
Classic. I am currently trying to find out if the cam tensioner has
ever been replaced. In the meantime, the bike sure makes a lot of
clatter, more than my 1200 ever did. Sounds like it's coming from the
heads, but not sure yet.
I did some research in this group and online, in a few forums, and
opinions vary from "replace the cam chain tensioner" (ok ok) to "you
put in high lift cams and neglected to put in taller rocker box
covers" to "TC88 engines naturally make a lot of noise, and you can
spend a fortune trying to quiet them down to no good purpose". Any
opinions I missed?

It's the nature of the beast, but I'd check those cam tensioners. They went
out on my '02 at 30K. My '06s were still fine at 55K, too bad the cam
bearings weren't.

For advice on a question like this, you should state how many miles
the bike has on it.
