...maybe.
Drinks all around, I got what I think is good news today.
To recap, had an accident I don't remember June 16th, spent 8 days in
hospital. Noisy Glide (2003 ultra classic) has been sitting at the
dealer while I argue with the insurance company. Despite the damage
being substantially less than 50% of the value of the bike, the
insurance wanted to total it.
I talked to several people at insurance over the last several days,
got nowhere. It now appears I've been talking to the wrong people. I
got a call today from someone who says she is the actual adjuster
assigned to my case, and she apologized for being out on vacation the
last week or so. It took about 15 minutes to come to a compromise
agreement and THEY'RE GOING TO FIX THE BIKE!
-- as long as the "found damage" -- additional things the dealer finds
as they fix the bike -- doesn't exceed $1K. If it does, she's to call
me and we will renegotiate. (Reason being, a lot of the damage is
cosmetic, like scratched floorboards, which I do not care about, so I
have wiggle room in what gets repaired.)
So as it stands, I may be able to keep the bike. It's not entirely
emotional. Earlier this year I had the cam chain/oil pump assembly
swapped out for the new improved 2007-and-later design, and I was not
looking forward to going through that again on a replacement bike. I
know this bike intimately, and that has value to me.
Another round for everyone.

Good news indeed! Keep in mind when push comes to shove this
group has a lot of parts that they'll donate to keep one of the bar
patrons on a favored bike.
